Welcome to
PLTW Engineering at Alvin HS
At Alvin High School, we empower students to ask insightful questions, explore disciplinary boundaries and confront conventional ways of thinking. We believe that an effective education doesn’t just come from memorizing or lecturing. Active participation in the learning process entails analyzing, discussing and collaborating.
This is the first course in a four year sequence of courses that has been written by Project Lead the Way. Students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects like designing a new toy or improving an existing product. Engineering Notebooks
Students will be required to maintain an engineering notebook, which will be provided by the district. It is used to formally document, in chronological order, all the work the student performs related to a specific design project. Engineering notebooks will be graded.
AutoDesk Fusion 360
Student will use the software program, AutoDesk Fusion360.
